The Museum of Natural and Hunting Sciences from Vatra Dornei, a public forum monument of county importance, located in Vatra Dornei (110 km away from Suceava), organized in a building from the first half of the 20th century situated on Unirii Street, no. 3.
Opened to the public in 1956, the museum is organized into two sections: the Hunting Department in Suceava County (on the ground floor) and the Fauna and Flora Department in the Dornelor area.
In the hunting department, there are a series of old traps and hunting weapons and feeders, which the foresters put in the forests to nourish wild creautes, birds and animals specific to the area, handicrafts made of furs, horns or deer legs, which illustrates the local “craft” dedicated to their manufacture.
In the trophy room are exhibited many medalled trophies: fur trophies for lynx, bear, wolf, wild boar; horn trophies: Carpathian deer, fallow deer, deer and black goat; wild boar fang trophies.
The Department of Flora and Fauna includes glacial relics, images with vertebrates in the series of their development (fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, small mammals) and a dramatic diorama (deer attacked by a pack of wolves, unique in Romania).
