The Geological Museum is located in the main building of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, occupying a hall of 550 m². Its collections have been enriched through acquisitions at exhibitions, museums, expeditions, and from private individuals in Bonn, Paris, Prague, Vienna, New York, Freiberg, Dresden, Strasbourg, Philadelphia, and beyond. Over its 140-year history, the museum has gathered numerous specimens from all over the world.
The museum’s activities are closely integrated with the educational process, contributing significantly to the training of highly qualified specialists. This objective is reflected in the museum’s structure, which features systematic collections in mineralogy, petrography, mineral resources, historical geology, and paleontology.
The museum regularly hosts student classes as well as tours for schoolchildren, visitors, and delegations from across Ukraine and abroad. Additionally, it serves as a hub for scientific research, including the development of electronic systematic catalogs for all departments of the exhibition.
