The church from Arbore, code SV-II-a-A-05487, dedicated to “The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist”. A monument of international importance located in Arbore (14 km away from Rădăuți and 36 km from Suceava).
In 1502, the porter of Suceava Luca Arbore built a church of raw stone, of medium size, of mixed shape (trefoil plan inside and rectangular outside).
Luca Arbore’s tomb is located to the right of the narthex entrance, under a stone canopy unique in Romania, which imitates the stone canopy that covers the tomb of King Kazimierz IV, located in the Wawel Cathedral in Krakow.
There is an unusual element for an Orthodox church in the external painting, probably also taken from Poland: the representation of St. Christopher (Roman Catholic saint, martyred in the third century AD, with Christ child on his shoulder).
